What is Space Clearing?

Firstly and at its most basic level, space clearing is a process or ceremony whose focus and purpose is to clear out old or stagnant energy from a space and to replace it with a new more positive energy. It is about asking for guidance and protection and wiping the slate clean in order to start afresh, helping you to break free from old patterns of behaviour.

For tens of thousands of years our ancestors have been performing various ceremonies and blessings, calling upon help from their ancestors, gods and spirit guides to help protect their homes and keep them and their families safe. Regardless of whether their home was a cave, a teepee, a mud, brick, wood or stone dwelling, it made little difference. It would have been unthinkable to start living in a new home without blessing it first and asking for protection.

To this day many Catholics will call the priest in to bless their new homes and Jewish people will have the Rabbi come to bless the prayer scrolls or Mizuza that are pinned to the doorframes. Hindus celebrate Diwali, the festival of light, which involves a space clearing ceremony and there are many more examples throughout the world.
